The Funny Thing About Time

The funny thing about life is how it tends to pass by. From moments that take your breath away to days that make you cry life is something mysterious. From weeks that can take forever to months that fly by and years that can seem magical. I have just had a remarkable week; the most amazing and so very bittersweet.

It starts with Monday. Usually I try to see my Mondays less manic and more magical, however mine was a covered with a cloud of sadness. Not too much happened, but I stayed busy. I packed and tried to chill before my early morning on Tuesday. An episode of the Secret Life of the American Teenager was exactly what I needed to relax.

Tuesday began early and very rainy. Like the mood in my own heart I traveled towards a sad occasion. My grandmother’s ‘life partner’ as it was described in the program passed away in a way that still eludes modern medicine. Trekking up to Duluth for the funeral I began to flip though my memories. Billy has he is fondly remembered by me was a wonderful man. The family he left behind including my grandmother and us loved him very much. Billy was more of a grandfather to me than my own absent one. Throughout Christmases, Thanksgivings, Easters he has been there. From Mother’s Day to some of my own special birthday moments throughout my twenty years he was always there. On the way back with the rain falling like the tears in my heart I began to remember all the moments and the moments he will never get to see. He will never see me turn twenty-one, get married, or have children of my own. This saddens me very much because I know he would have been there even if my own grandfather couldn’t show up.

Tuesday ended differently though. Going with my boyfriend, my best friend, and Cole to the most anticipated movie premiere was a blast. I got to share a moment and a memory with them forever. We laughed and played Oregon Trail until the movie came on. It was decent despite its inaccuracy. I enjoyed the company more though. We said our goodbye at three am looking forward to the rest of Wednesday.

We awoke later on Wednesday to a mission of concert proportions. Getting all packed up toward Willmar, MN we made it safely to see the most amazing show. My fifth and definitely the best Switchfoot concert yet was remarkable. Traveling to Willmar down dusty dirt roads and weird GPS directions we made it. Eating crappy Chinese food and running around Bath and Bodyworks was a blast. I considered getting a piercing and laughed at the Revolution store.

Thursday Amanda, Jordan and I visited Nate. He had his wisdom teeth taken out and was all hopped up on Hydrocodine. We talked to him and then he gave us ideas for the script. He was sleepy so we let him sleep and Amanda and I finished the script in time for a run through Thursday night. We like the way it turned out and ate delicious cheese dip at Cole’s. I should really ask him where in Cub he found it.

Friday I hung around with Lauren and Nate running through the script with them and getting bitched at for trying to help Nate out, but whatever. I chilled the rest of the night and enjoyed the wonders of Friday night television. Saturday we had a sonic and movie night. Both fun! Played Life until we wanted to hurt Brian. Good Times!

That is the funny thing about time. It just tends to fly by; I wonder why that is?
