Wow I must be in a very blogging mood this week. I'm not sure why. All I know is for a year I have been documenting a band or artist of the month. Each month I get totally addicted to a band/artist and listen to their music constantly. I feel almost obsessed with the sounds. I listen to more than that, but these are the songs that I can't help by listening to over and over again. Ok enough with the rant here is the list with small comments after. I can't believe it has been a year.
August 2005 - The Click 5 : I remember the first time I heard Just the Girl and I loved it. I was dancing around my living room. Then later that month Amanda bought their CD. If was a fun way to live the last month of summer.
September 2005 - Switchfoot : Of course Switchfoot was September. After the high from Sonshine I saw these guys the day before my birthday. Then on the thirteenth of that month their newest CD came out. So of course I listened to that and other songs by them. It was a perfect month. It is my favorite band and I am glad I could share a new year with them.
October 2005 - James Blunt : I heard You're beautiful and thought that he was weird. His words are so thoughtful though. So the second time I saw the video for You're Beautiful I knew I had to hit up the website and get the info on this guy. I ended up listening to more songs and falling into a sense of musical heaven.
November 2005 - Panic! at the Disco : That's right biotches I heard them way before they were really popular. I was the one telling people. I thought they sounded different and that the were going to have amazing concerts. Now people are telling me about them and I'm like I told you a few months ago. And I happy that they have swept the nation. They had that type of music where you just sang as loud as you could and didn't care if you were swearing. You acted out the songs and loved the music for it's originality.
December 2005 - Chirstmas Music: This isn't a band or artist, but I thought this is what I was listening to the most during this month and their were so many artists involved. It was a simple month.
January 2006 - Teddy Geiger : I saw him on a preview for Love Monkey and thought he was really cute, but where had I seen him before. I wasn;t one of those crazy people. Then I remembered I had seen him before. I couldn't place my finger on it. Then Seventeen magazine came out and I was like, "That is the guy who did that amazing cover of Slide by the Goo Goo Dolls". I learned of him and fell in love with his music. I swear For You I Will was the only song I listened to. If not that then Try Too Hard. I loved his voice and then heard that he wrote all of his own lyrics. I watched Love Monkey and became determined that one day I would ask him of his beautiful lyrics. It was a great way to ring in the new year.
Feburary 2006 - Anna Nalick : Although I was still very much hung up on Teddy I began to broaden my musical horizions. I listened to many different artists I hadn't listened to in many whiles. Then about the second week of listening I came upon my Anna Nalick CD. This was the music of my month I knew. I continued to listen to it everywhere. Just hearing Anna's voice about the Wrecks of the day made Valentine's month alot less lonely.
March 2006 - Academy Is : Upon my obsession with Panic! I found that they were going to be having a concert soon. This is where I found my love of The Academy Is boys. I was watching FUSE one night and saw the video for Slow Down. I heard and loved the song so much that I put it up as my first Official Myspace Profile song. I remembered about Panic! and bought the Academy's CD. And listened to it as March went from Lion to Lamb.
April 2006 - The Fray : I was reading very late one night when this song came on the radio. I was feeling confused and I loved getting lost into the world of music and books. Suddenly the song stated "and it's coming down to nothing more than apathy." This is the line that hooked me. I went onto the cities 97 page and found out that is was The Fray. Saving my money for a show at the end of the school year I wasn't able to buy this CD yet. But I did put the music video on my profile for Myspace. I loved the song Over My Head and listened to it "over and over again" Lol.
May 2006 - 30 Seconds to Mars : I had had this CD for awhile, but after the frustration of Prom I just wanted to "Attack" people and move on with my life. I thought I had just created my own "Modern Myth" in my mind. I began to really relate to Jared Leto. It was comforting.
June 2006 - 29 Hours Left : With school being over I was so excited to see this band. And although circumstances kept me away from that concert that day. I never lost my love of listening to their songs. Now many of you don't even know who this band is, but I can tell you that they are the best people I have ever met. This is the best High School band I will ever hear to this day. They will be so successful and I will continue to be their fan forever. They are almost a unified friend.
July 2006 - Falling Up : This last and past month that ends tonight was fun. Although Sonshine wasn't what I had expected, it was an amazing experience. So I saw this band I had had wanted to see. I had had both of the CDs and listened occasionly, but after hearing them speak about the music and meeting them. I knew that I couldn't stop listening. Falling Up had the perfect mix of christian music and alterative rock. It gave me a faith in what my purpose in this life is.
I don't know what this next year will bring.
Maybe it will bring so much more new music and I can't wait. Music = life for me. But I think there are some bands that might make the list next year. Including McFly, The Audition, Pink Spiders, and so much more. It was fun and I will miss these artists, maybe tonight I will listen to every single one of these in the order of discovery and listening time. I loveed listening and documenting and I will forever remember this has my Seventeenth year of life, the soundtrack to my life maybe? Oh well on to next year. It will be fun. I just know it.
